leave me alone with your social lingo you try so hard to stay on top leave me alone with your little jingle with your picture perfect pop
C'lin, or so he was newly named, was cleaning Nonath by the lake as was part of his now appointed duties in taking care of his dragon. The green dragonet purred happily and hummed as her bonded scrubbed her down, her leg twitching as he scratched just the right spot. She itched all the time these days! It was so queer. Joining them were, of course, Klah and Spinner, waiting and watching at the water's edge. Klah was simply enjoying the waves of the water as they lapped against his brown hide, but Spinner was taking a much more active role in Nonath's bath. Like the little empress she was, she directed C'lin's action with little disappointed squawks. No! That was not how it was done! Scrub a little more over to the left! Did he want Nonath clean or didn't he?
Nonath giggled mentally at the smaller green's antics. While Spinner was, as C'lin said, "not particularly nice", Nonath still loved her. She was silly, the way she squawked and got all upset over things all the time. Actually, Spinner had recently taken to being Nonath's body guard. The two seemed to get along thick as thieves, even if Spinner liked to fly around with an air of nonchalance. However, as Nonath was about to speak she felt a weird disturbance in the little bright green. Spinner had grown silent, an oddity in itself in contrast to how demanding she had been but a moment ago. However, her eyes were also gleaming a color that was no red or orange, and her gaze was tilted up to the sky.
C'linMine! What is little green doing? She feels weird; Nonath inquired, staring at the flit with a curious gaze.
"What do you mean?" C'lin blinked, glancing over at Spinner without much scrutiny. "She's always like that."
No, C'linLove. She is excited about something! Can't you feel it? Nonath nudged him, encouraging him to look again.
"I don't know what you mean, Nonath, she's just-" His words paused as he caught a glimpse of Spinner's very determined stare up into the sky. That's when it hit him... that nagging feeling that tickled up the back of his neck. Coupled with the flit's sudden strange behavior, it didn't take long for C'lin to figure out what was going on.
Spinner took off like a flash into the sky, her tiny vocal chords vibrating into an off-key song to announce to the world that she was in flight. Her bright hide, even brighter in her mating lust, glistened on the otherwise dreary spring day and put all the dull colors of the supposed Weyr Lake to shame. Her strained voice, not beautiful but nonetheless noteworthy, echoed across the waters and over the plain where herdbeast were grazing. But there would be no meals for her... she just wanted to fly.
Klah, too, stirred and gave chase, although he flew not too quickly. He flew merely because he felt it was his duty, chasing after Spinner with leisurely wingbeats that would probably leave him far behind. Spinner, however, strained her tiny muscles to put as much distance between herself and her suitors as possible. It wasn't every day the green flit liked to have fun, but this day she wished to have as much of it as possible. Today was her day! It was her time to shine... and her time to fly. What males chased were of little consequence to her. She'd have fun with them all, some way and some how.
"She's flying." C'lin finally responded to Nonath, mesmerized by the flying green so that he was distracted from his duty of washing her for a second. Nonath, too, watched after her with great interest until a sudden itching of her hide reminded her of their purpose.
C'linLove... if it's not too much trouble... I itch... She nudged her mindmate gently, purring softly so as not to bother him too much. He paused and looked down, then smiled toothily. Of course it wasn't any trouble! He dutifully scratched her and she hummed happily. Spinner would take care of her own.

Gambit looked skyward at the sound of a song. The fact that it wasn't entirely on key hardly mattered to him. He listened to it and then he took off, singing his subtle reply. He was no more on key than the voice he had heard, his voice rough and rolling, but he took great pride in it. After all, he was singing for a lady. He rose after Spinner, a gleaming glint of green ahead of him. Behind him, he heard Callisto shriek in fury. He ignored her, eyes going a deep, purplish red with his lust. He wanted Spinner; he wanted her quite a bit, but hey, he'd be polite. He'd be a gentleman. A very strong and very quick gentleman, of course, the only other suitor being another brown, but still a gentleman. Flashing his teeth at Klah, he darted passed him. A lazy good-for-nothing wasn't going to beat him. Spinner moved quickly through the sky and he strove to catch up, not wanting to be left behind.
On the ground, Jubilee glanced after him, but otherwise ignored his chase. The tickle of lust in the back of her mind was of no consequence, easily brushed from her consciousness. It wasn't important. However, little escaped Ianuth and he was happy to stick his nose into what was happening. What's going on? he asked. Jubilee was oiling him and she didn't look up from her work; she merely smiled. "Ask again when you're older. I'm sure you'll remember. You'll find it much more interesting then;" she told him soothingly. She didn't figure he'd really wanted to have the talk with her or possibly ever and she wasn't interested in trying to have a discussion with him about lust and love. He stared at her for a moment, then looked after Gambit, and finally settled down once more, letting himself be oiled. Callisto was still hissing and shrieking obnoxiously.
She does not seem to like whatever it is very much; Ianuth commented.
"Shut up, Callisto;" Jubilee said with a grin, sending the green in a huff.
Up in the air, Gambit was still doing his very best to catch up to Spinner, crooning to her every so often like the some charming hunk off the cover of a flitter romance novel. She was so pretty! He did adore her quite a bit! It didn't matter that it was rather likely his feelings would soon pass. Guilt wasn't part of the equation and his short memory, a memory nothing like that of his bonded's curious new friend, helped to keep him from being able to consider that he might do her any harm. Right then, he could only do her good! See how he tried so much harder than that other brown! He had been the last, but that was only second. He could not be second best in her heart; it wasn't possible. Keeping up with the smaller green did put a strain on him, but he didn't let it show. He had to cool, calm, and charming, so he crooned to her even as he ran out of breath.

i though my eyes were gonna get off clean 'til i read your lips on the t.v. screen you were busy saying what you didn't mean now everyone's singing along with your ridiculous song you got it stuck you got it stuck in my head
It wasn't long into her flight before Spinner was getting tired. She had the problem of constantly pushing herself farther than she should at the very beginning so that her flights never lasted long. Not that she had the foresight to think that far ahead. The violent green wasn't exactly the brightest when it came to smarts. But she certainly felt irritable when her flights were coming to a close. Wings aching, tiny heart pounding, she turned on her suitors to face them for the first time. Two browns were there, one she knew from infancy and one that was completely new. Well, it didn't matter much now. She had made her choice.
A shrill cry pierced the day as she double backed on them, closing the distance between them with frantic wingbeats. However, a bloody whim made her pass up the lighter shaded brown as she made her way for the lazy Klah that thought he could fly after her with such lack of fervor and not get plucked out of the air. She pounced upon him, her faster movements allowing her to get on his back and write claw-marks into his dark brown hide. He bugled in surprise, fumbling in vain to get her off of him. However, she was gone again in a flash. Gambit was next on her hit list.
Red eyes narrowed into his light brown form as she meant to take him by surprise from underneath. However, claws poised to rip into flesh only met his claws, entangled and hopeless to escape. She shrieked her defiance, tail whipping about violently as she still struggled to break free. Then, submitting herself to her tiny aching muscles, she went limp in his grasp, allowing herself to fall right out of the sky. Still, she had enough energy to sink her needle-like teeth into the hide on his shoulder, clasping him long enough to leave distinct bite marks that would forever make it known that he was her suitor.
